About Our Instructors
Jeff & Janis Roach,
Instructors
Jeff Roach graduated with a B.S. from Abilene Christian University in 1986 and has been in the transportation/freight brokerage industry ever since. He first worked as a traffic manager. He then went to work for a major less-than-truckload carrier, whose philosophy was that you needed to experience every phase of the job before achieving a management position. He started out working nights on the freight docks, supervising the loading and unloading of shipments. He then worked as an inside account sales representative, and was soon promoted to outside sales for national accounts. He then obtained a position with a major truckload carrier with an airfreight division, where he was the Vice-President of National Accounts. In 1995 he began operating his own freight brokerage, which he grew into a multi-million dollar business. He began developing freight broker/agent courses in 2001.
Jan Roach graduated with B.S. from Baylor University in 1982. She entered the transportation field in 1995 when she became a partner in a freight brokerage operation. She has over 10 years of experience in running a brokerage/agency including sales, marketing, accounting/claims, and day-to-day operations inside of a brokerage. She has also provided training in the industry since 2001.
Both Jeff and Janis have an entertaining and inspiring teaching style. Graduates leave the course overloaded with practical information, helpful resources and the motivation to change their life (just read through the testimonial pag).
Brandi Patterson,
Instructor
Brandi Patterson lives out what she teaches. She makes a living doing what she teaches. And she inspires others with what she teaches.
Here is what one of her students said:
“As a recent graduate of the Brooke Property Broker/Agent Class, I can, from personal experience, guarantee you Brandi Patterson will make good on her promise to support you in any way possible after you graduate.”
Brandi has a depth of experience she loves to pass on to up and coming brokers. She’s been a success in several industries paving her way to becoming a freight broker.
Prior to brokering and teaching, she owned and operated a very successful commercial construction company. She stretched her creative side by branching off into interior design. In analyzing how to maximize profits Brandi became increasingly frustrated with the problems caused in the shipping of merchandise.
“In my commercial design jobs, if my inventory wasn't shipped on time I was out money and time." So she decided to educate herself on how commodities get from point A to point B.
Brooke Transportation Training was recommended to her from a successful agent who had taken the class. Brandi took the on line class first and then took the on site class. Taking the freight broker class both on-line and live armed her with excitement over all the possibilities for her future in the transportation industry. She quickly put all she’d been taught into action and now currently has a good base of customers.
After about a year of successful brokering, Brooke Training asked her if she’d be interested in teaching what she learned both in class and in the real world.
"You know how they say, things in life will fall into place if you are patient and allow the doors to be opened!" well they did, I have a passion for teaching, I want to see everyone around me be successful in life! I was offered to teach for the on site class of Brooke Transportation Training and absolutely love doing it!”
Brandi also juggles parenting 3 children while her husband is valiantly serving our country in Iraq. She revels in organizing large social events and coaching basketball and soccer. She’s an active member on the parks and recreation board for the City of Rockwall. She hopes to soon run for City Council.
